Ponsonby is known for its creativity, character and strong sense of community. Kia Ora Ponsonby exists to nurture that spirit and create spaces where everyone feels welcome.
We are a community led social enterprise focused on bringing people together through vibrant, inclusive events that celebrate local culture and support independent businesses. Our inaugural community market invited neighbours, families, makers and retailers to connect in a relaxed, welcoming environment that reflected the warmth and diversity of Ponsonby itself.
Kia Ora Ponsonby was founded on a simple belief. Strong communities grow when people feel seen, valued and connected. While still in its early stages, the vision is long term. We aim to continue creating opportunities for locals to gather, collaborate and share in the energy that makes this neighbourhood special.
Founded by Ryan Richards, a proud Ponsonby local, Kia Ora Ponsonby reflects a genuine commitment to building events that are open, community focused and shaped by the people who call this place home.

Te Rimutahi celebrated its very first Christmas by transforming Ponsonby’s newest urban gem into a buzzing festive market. Under the stunning covered canopy, the space came alive with creative stalls, unique gifts, live music and nonstop good vibes. Bathed in summer sunshine, the gardens, seating and open walkways kept the energy flowing throughout the day. It was a fantastic turnout and a true celebration of local community spirit.
